ORKESTRA YANG MENG-INDONESIA?

Iseng-iseng tadi pagi membuka youtube untuk mendengar alunan musik klasik Canon in D. Pas dapatnya alunan lagu ini dimainkan oleh Nanyang Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra.

Ternyata ada yang menarik dari video ini (teman2 bisa saksikan sendiri videonya di link ini). Biasanya orkestra menggunakan alat musik klasik Barat. Tapi orkestra yang satu ini menyajikan tampilan yang baru pertama kali ini kulihat.

Mereka memadukan alat musik klasik Barat dengan alat musik bangsa mereka sendiri. Bahkan dalam lagu ini, alat musik mereka terlihat lebih banyak jumlahnya dan terdengar lebih dominan suaranya ketimbang alat musik klasik Barat.

Ini hal yang menurutku baru dan unik. Orkestra itu ternyata tidak identik dengan alat musik klasik Barat, tapi juga dapat diisi berbagai alat musik lokal negara masing-masing.

Kebanyakan kita masih menganggap orkestra itu identik dengan alat musik klasik Barat. Aku sendiri pun baru tersadarkan dan tercerahkan pagi ini setelah secara kebetulan menyaksikan video NYP Chinese Ochestra.

Sejauh ini aku memang baru beberapa kali menonton penampilan orkestra Indonesia, baik lewat televisi ataupun langsung. Tapi seingatku, alat musik yang digunakan dalam orkestra itu kebanyakan, bahkan semuanya masih didominasi alat musik klasik Barat.

Saat menonton video orkestra dari teman-teman mahasiswa ini, sekejap imajinasiku pun melayang tinggi.

Bagaimana ya kalau alat musik khas Indonesia seperti Angklung, Gendang Karo, Sasando, Tifa, Suling, Kacapi, Ketipung, Demung, Sarunei, dan lain sebagainya dimainkan dalam satu orkestra yang khas Indonesia?

Wah, pasti akan menjadi alunan yang indah, merdu, dan enak didengar. Dan paduan berbagai alat musik ini tentu akan juga mencitrakan kesatuan bangsa Indonesia dalam berbagai keberagaman.

Ya, untuk sekarang aku hanya bisa berkhayal saja, tapi berharap suatu saat akan bisa menyaksikan kolaborasi yang khas Indonesia itu.
